CHC50113 - Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
This qualification reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff. Under the Education and Care Services National Law ( 2011 ) the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority ( ACECQA ) publishes lists of approved early childhood education and care qualifications and information regarding regulatory requirements here: www.acecqa.gov.au .
It is a requirement that students hold the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and care qualification prior to enrolling. Exception to enrolment can be made if you are enrolling in a double qualification i.e Cert III and Diploma over 2 years. Student's who successfully complete the core units of this qualification may gain articulation into other Diplomas or Advanced Diploma qualifications within the CHC sector. Pathways from the Diploma of Early Childhood Education may include but not be limited to:
- Bachelor of Education
- Certificates in Teachers Aide
- Other CHC Diploma courses
The course Estimated Study hours based on having the Certificate III prior: 25x hours per week = 12 months 15x hours per week = 18 months
The course is self-paced, which allows students to commence daily. Students to be able to complete the course in their own time frame over a 12 month period.
This course is a Self-Paced Online course, which means courses and enrolments commence daily.
Students may be required to complete written and oral exams, participate in simulated activities, complete assignments, presentations, vocational projects and role plays. This course required students to complete hours on the job, which can be done as a volunteer or paid work. All students are required to complete 180 hours of work placement in a regulated Child Care Service which caters for children aged between 0-6. This must be done in the following format:
- A minimum of 50 hours of this Work Placement will need to be completed specifically with children 0-2 years of age.
- 50 hours between 2-3 years of age
- 60 hours 3-5 years of age and the remaining 20 hours can be made up from any age 0-5 years.
- Students need to be aware that Family Day Care can only be used as a Work Place setting if the Family Day Carer supervising is suitably qualified and there are at least 3 different children aged 0-2 and 3 different children aged 2-6 enrolled on the same day.

|Australian Capital Territory||The ACT government released a discussion paper for the creation of a screening scheme that stipulates minimum standards for broadly identified child-related occupations and activities. It was proposed that this could be the function of a Commissioner for Children and Young People as outlined in the Position Paper: For a proposed Australian Capital Territory Commissioner for Children and Young People from the ACT Chief Minister's Department, 2004. |New South Wales||The NSW Commission for Children and Young People is responsible for the Working with Children Check Click here which covers police checks but only in relation to child related offences. Police Clearances are required to clear the worker for all other offences.. This checklist aims to create workplaces where children are safe and protected, and where the people who work with children are appropriately screened.

|Queensland||The Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian ( Queensland ) is responsible for the blue card Click here ( criminal history checks ) for people wanting to commence employment or volunteer work with children, and covers police checks.|
|South Australia||Obtaining criminal history reports is embedded in the Children's Protection Act. Further information is available at the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion. Click here|
|Tasmania||The Commissioner for Children Tasmania released a consultation paper discussing proposals for the government to introduce policies and procedures for Tasmanian organisations to screen individuals who seek to work with children in a voluntary or paid capacity. Criminal history record checks are provided by the Tasmanian Police Department. |Victoria||The Victorian Parliament has enacted the Working with Children Check Click here to provide a screening process for individuals who seek to work with children in a voluntary or paid capacity. The new procedures are now in place. The Victorian Police provides a service to individuals and organisations in Victoria wishing to obtain national police certificates for employment, voluntary work and occupation related licensing or registration purposes. |Western Australia||A Working with Children Check Click here is a new criminal record check that is compulsory for people who carry out child-related work in Western Australia. Working with Children Checks are very different from a National Police Check Click here conducted by the WA Police, which many employers may currently require of their employees or volunteers.|
This course is a self paced course which means students take control of their study and can complete the course at their own pace. The theory is delivered using our online learning portal, combined with practical work experience which must be completed within a Registered Child care facility via correspondence. Students are required to use Google Chrome or Firefox as their browser to complete the online training components.
Recognition of Prior Learning

Course cost $2000.00, payments are made in line with our fee policy found in our Terms and Conditions Click here and Student Handbook Click here in relation to fees in advance. We will ensure that fees paid in advance of course delivery shall be protected by having such funds entered into accounts as "Unearned Income," which may not be drawn upon until such time as delivery has commenced. We have a Set Fee Structure for all of its training courses which consists of a Maximum of $1000.00 Enrolment and a $500.00 commencement fee, allowing the final amount to be paid at completion.
To achieve the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, the qualification packaging rules requires completion of 28 units: - 23 core units - 5 elective units, of which: - at least 2 must be selected from the elective units listed below - up to 3 units may be selected from any endorsed Training Packages or accredited courses relevant to the work outcome -All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
